Obituary for B. Leland Tucker Jr.
B. Leland Tucker Jr, “Leland” passed away on Friday December 31, 2021. He was born on March 9, 1948, to Burney L. Tucker Sr. and Mabel McGlohon Tucker in Pitt County.
Leland graduated from Winterville High School in 1966 and served in the U.S. Navy for eight years traveling the world with Gail.
He loved hit and miss engines and old tractors, especially his Ford 8n. When he was restoring it, he found an old medicine bottle in the toolbox. Part of his final wishes was to have some of his ashes placed in that bottle and returned to the toolbox so that he could continue to ride even after death. Leland was a charter member of Eastern Antique Power Association and was an avid collector of “old” things.
His favorite way to relax was to sit on the porch in a rocking chair. He retired from automotive sales where he was the General Sales Manager for both Hastings Ford and East Carolina Lincoln Mercury.
Leland was also active in the Winterville Community where he served as Alderman for the Town and as a board member of the Winterville Historical and Arts Society.
He was preceded in death by his parents Burney and Mable Tucker and sister, Susan Moore. He is survived by his wife of fifty-three years, Gail, son Michael and wife Kristi Tucker of Winterville and daughter Kennie and husband Josh Davis of Coppell, Texas. He also had three precious granddaughters, Mckinzie Tucker, Shelby and Sadie Davis and his faithful dog Buddy. Also surviving are his brother Jeff and wife Jane of Greenville and brother-in-law Tony Moore of Winterville, nieces and nephews, and numerous cousins
Leland was the caretaker of the McGlohon-McLawhorn Cemetery, where he will be buried. Michael will carry on as caretaker. Memorial contributions can be made in his honor and will be used for future upkeep for the family cemetery. A private interment will take place at a later date.
