Barbara Green Barham, 86, of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, passed peacefully on June 22, 2022. She was born to Alton Green and Esther Lindsey in Youngsville, North Carolina on September 30, 1935. She was the oldest of five children and is survived by 4 siblings- Daphine Williams (William), Ruth Nowell (Clee), Bill Green (Linda), Lin Green (Cathy). She married Lawrence Tolbert Barham and they lived together in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence, and two children- Ricky Linn Barham and Debbie Jean Barham. She is survived by her children Pat DeRatt (Jimmy) of Wilson; Nick Barham (Kay) of Roanoke Rapids, and Terry Barham (Tima) of Roanoke Rapids. She is loved and adored as “Granny” and is survived by 9 grandchildren- Terry Lee Barham of Roanoke Rapids, Aubrey Draughn (Justin) of Mocksville, Anna Messer (Shaun) of Waynesville, Barbara Lemmens (Duke) of Kansas City, Lindsey DeRatt (Nick Paci) of Philadelphia, Brooke May (Dusty) of Littleton, Jamie DeRatt of Brooklyn, and Ty & Treyson Barham of Roanoke Rapids. Additionally, she is survived by 8 great grandchildren- Honor Presley, Cannon & Lidia Draughn; Addie & Gunner May; Emerson & Palmer Kate Messer and Gracelynn Barham.
Barbara was a master seamstress, gardener & a respected friend to many over the years. She was also a loving aunt/great aunt “Bobby” to many nieces and nephews.
Her family wishes that everyone could have the blessing of having special people in life, like Barbara Barham, to respect and look up to for guidance. Those people have profound effects on those around them as we all strive to emulate their admirable traits. Many times, unbeknownst simple but compassionate, nurturing habits and gestures get ingrained into every fiber of your being. Barbara instilled endless love and kindness into
her family. These qualities continue to live on within her family, and will continue to affect lives positively for generations to come. This truth brings peace that Barbara Green Barham lives on forever within our hearts and in eternal life with her Lord and Savior.
A private memorial for immediate family will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family would like to encourage loved ones to plant a flower of their choice in loving memory of Barbara Barham.
