Bobby Ray Riggs, a native of Pitt County, passed away peacefully at his home in Greenville, NC on July 31, 2020.

A graduate of DH Conley High School, Bobby was a natural entrepreneur, and spent many years at his restaurants, BJ’s Chicken BBQ and Seafood, in Greenville and Williamston, NC. Managing Parker’s Barbeque for many years and starting his own chicken and seafood restaurants earned him the nickname, “the Chicken Man”. He was employed as a Machine Operator at Sanderson Farms at the time of his passing. Bobby was the best boss and coworker a person could ask for.
Bobby was preceded in death by his father, William Alton Riggs, his mother, Lois Janet Walston, and his nephew, Darren Riggs.
He is survived by his daughter, Alexis Alana Riggs; stepsons, Toby Wayne Hoffman and Brandon Brock; stepdaughters, Belinda Michelle Beaman and Brittani Brock; grandchildren, Corey Rose Hoffman, Taylor Devoe Hoffman, Garrett Reese Hoffman, Gavin Richard Beaman, and Addison Hoffman; the mothers of his children and step-children, Linda Hoffman Brown and Bridget Brock Riggs; brothers, Billy Ray Riggs of Greenville, NC, and Joey Woodrow Owens of Raleigh, NC; sisters, Melonie Riggs McIntosh and Michelle Riggs Roork of Greenville, NC; sister, Rachel Riggs Poland of Wilson, NC; sister-in-law, Ashley Jernigan Beacham. Bobby was loving uncle and friend to many nieces and nephews. He had a huge heart and loved to share joy and laughter with those around him.
Due to restrictions of the pandemic, a virtual celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2020, From 2pm to 4pm, for family and friends. Messages of inspiration and condolences are welcomed and appreciated.
