Obituary for Jayne Anne Simmons (Hallock)

Jayne Anne Hallock Simmons, 69, formerly of Poughkeepsie, NY; unexpectedly, yet peacefully, passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2022, following a short illness. Jayne was born October 4, 1952 to Harry W. Hallock, Jr and Shirley B. Hallock in Poughkeepsie, NY. She graduated class of 1970 from Arlington High School in Lagrangeville, NY.

Jayne worked a variety of customer service positions for the Grand Union grocery chain for over 30 years. After moving to Greenville, NC in 2002, she held employment with the Food Lion grocery chain, Wachovia Bank, and lastly had a career as the Executive Assistant to the Solid Waste Director of Pitt County, North Carolina. Jayne retired from Pitt County Government in December of 2021. Every aspect of every job required her special ability to relate to customers, problem solve customer concerns, and provide expedient customer service transactions. Jayne loved helping the public, always going above and beyond any task she was assigned.

Jayne was a lifelong lover of animals and leaves behind grand-fur-babies Chelsey, Callie, Kitty Kitty and Cassidy, that she adored and who brought happiness to her life.

Jayne is survived by her daughter Jennifer A. Simmons and her fiancé, Kendel Anderson, of Greenville, NC; her brother Brent Hallock and wife Karen, of Hopewell Junction, NY; her niece, Sara Futia and her family of Slingerlands, NY; her niece, Amanda Greco and her family of Poughquag, NY. Jayne is also survived by her former husband, David A. Simmons, of Greenville, NC; her brother-in-law Dudley Simmons and wife Wendy, of Poughkeepsie, NY; her niece, Darci Levy, and family of Red Hook, NY; her niece, Lindsay Simmons, and family of Hyde Park, NY. Jayne is predeceased by her parents; her maternal grandparents, Michael J. and Helen B. Belch and her paternal grandparents, Harry W. and Ernestine B. Hallock, Sr.

At Jayne's request, there will be no calling hours. A Celebration of her life will be private and at the convenience of the family.
